second escapee caught after prison guard's death

This is an article, which appeared in the Houston Chronicle, is about two inmates of the Huntsville prison who killed an officer during an escape. Jerry Martin and John Falk both escaped while on work detail. They knocked the officer off her horse, she died soon after. The two inmates were both charged with murder one with a life sentence and the other with a 50 year sentence. The Prison was trying to get the state to reduce the 12 percent vacancy problem with a few extra guards. The response of the state wasn't fast enough to prevent this tragic accident.
